FAQ’s
What is your process?
After getting the initial brief and clarifying exactly what is involved, we provide you with an estimate. Once that is approved, we gather any samples/ style guides/ copy/ relevant information/ images from you and do our own research to come up with lots of ideas. From there we generate some design concepts. You choose a design direction from those concepts of and we apply that design to the entire document or brand package. You then review the document, make final changes and give the final seal of approval. Then it is on to finished art and sending the beast off to print. Sounds dead easy, doesn’t it?
How much do you charge?
In keeping with industry practice we generally provide clients with an estimate of cost based on their individual project. This estimate is based on the size of the client for whom the work is being done (bigger clients usually mean more meetings!), scope of work involved, as well as the eventual usage of the artwork. All corrections over and above 2 rounds are charged at our hourly rate of $120 per hour + GST.
What sort of clients do you do work for?
Over the years we have worked with everyone from large multi-nationals to local governments to one-person organisations. As building a sense of community is important to us, we seem to have attracted a lot of community and not-for-profit clients in the last few years.
Do you design… (insert word here)?
Mono Design specializes in print design so if you are looking for websites, you are out of luck. Other than that we design everything from identities to posters, annual reports to books. If it is printed and designed, we do it.
How long do you take?
Mmmm… how long is a piece of string? Obviously the amount of time a job takes to complete depends on lots of variables. Things like the size of the job, the number of people involved in its approval, and the number of changes required all have major impacts. If your copy is ready to go and completely signed off, images are the right size, logo is in the right format and design brief is clear we can turn a job around like lightning. But we live in the real world and know that it is very rare that the stars align in this way. What we can say is that we are very responsive and the feedback from our clients has generally been that we turn things around very quickly.
How can I keep my costs down?
It is always the most cost-effective option to do most of your thinking before you come to us. If you make lots of changes once the design process has begun you will generally incur additional costs. So the clearer you can be at the briefing stage, the less chance there is of anyone getting a nasty surprise once the job is underway. If you are a not-for-profit with a limited budget, please also feel free to let us know your budget constraints as we will do our best to accommodate you.
